The kestrel at Théding: welcome!

Every spring since 1996, a pair of kestrels come to nest in the attic of an old farm in Théding to give birth to chicks. You can follow this kestrel family’s natural adventure in real-time or relive the emotions of past years through the archives.
The kestrel gave its name to our website. But since 2019, it is also possible to follow the broods of different species of birds through cameras embedded in nest boxes. Read the news for the latest about our feathered friends.

What are you going to find on this dedicated site to kestrel?

You can watch the live nest of the raptor couple, thanks to the active webcam during the months of March to July. But also, the photo and video galleries of the past years as well as the history that brings together the dates of laying, hatching and flights.

Parisian citizens and acrobats of the air, the Kestrels have chosen to have their home in our beautiful capital.

Find it in the towers of ‘Notre Dame de Paris’, the ‘Tour Eiffel’, the ‘Sacré Cœur’ and many other monuments.

The species of the Kestrel Falcon is currently classified on the list of potentially threatened birds.

Therefore, in order to preserve the species, it was elected “Bird of the Year” in 2008.
